Yesterday, my beautiful boys made me a very special present for my first birthday as a mum. My wonderful husband has made me quite a few presents over the years but he outdid himself this year with the artistic help of Will.
I think Will has real talent:
A close up of his finger painting. We spent hours analysing this! What can you see in the painting?
Shayne (with some help from my mum) put blobs of paint in a dish, let Will paint then put the canvas down to 'print' the fingerpainting. It looks great and I can't wait to hang it on our wall!

The camera club girls and myself checked out a fantastic local photo location on the weekend. We were so lucky with the weather - it rained up until I left home but was dry from the time I arrived at the location until we left.
Monsalvat consists of a series of unique and distinctive buildings in the European style set in over 12 acres of parkland.
We had great day - I was hampered by trying to carry Will and shoot one handed for some of the time, so unfortunately I have quite a number of out of focus shots. I'm keen to go back on a slightly less wet day (and without Will!). Will's not quite at the stage of being able to be sat down alone in a place filled with stone steps and terraces!

We just started giving Will a bath regularly. Hmm - that sounds like we didn't wash him before. We did - but he usually had a shower with one of us.
He had so much fun splashing around the bottom of the shower that we thought we should let him enjoy a bit more water in the bathtub.
Of course - I went snap crazy (click to see larger as usual):

Shayne's parents are heading off on an 8 week overseas trip on Monday. We will miss them - we are lucky to have them live close by and see lots of them. I somehow think they will miss William a whole lot more though.
I said I would print some pictures of Will for them to take away for 'Nan's Brag Book'. These are some of the ones I took on the weekend that I will get printed tomorrow:

We had a lovely weekend away with Will on his first holiday. He travelled really well but we would have struggled to fit much more in the car so not sure how a longer trip would go! He slept in his pram bassinet but is about to outgrow it, so next time we will have to squeeze the portacot in as well!
I didn't get the camera out until this morning when I took some action shots of my brothers 7 month old boxer puppy. She is a real livewire but the most affectionate dog I have met (and our lab is pretty friendly herself). I'll upload them tomorrow and see what I managed to get.
My other job for tomorrow is to post off Will's thankyou cards. I know, I know, I'm slack. No excuses! Here they are (photos taken with my old point and shoot).

Good news: Will put on 100g this week which is great compared to his recent weight gain. He is still unsettled and screaming after feeds though and wakes up screaming etc. After a chat with someone whose baby has reflux (thank you!) I am going to take him to the GP and see about some stronger meds than mylanta.
Shayne has been busy on projects this week. He has completed the gate on our deck so finally we can eat in peace without Bella the overexcited lab joining us. The next project he has started is building a retaining wall/seat up at our bbq area and landscaping the garden behind it. I love having a big yard but it is a lot of work!
It was pretty hot out there so I stayed inside like a good wife and baked! (Shayne doesn't normally let me in the kitchen...). I made a big batch of scones with jam and cream and we had them with freshly brewed lady grey tea. We both ate so many we didn't need dinner! (I think I put on more than 100g in one day.)

We took Will to a chiro yesterday because we are having feeding difficulties and poor weight gains. He hasn't been his happy self for a while now so I'm not getting much time to get the camera out unfortunately. :(
The chiro is a keen photographer and had some great black and whites up. They looked great!
We are off to a wedding tomorrow so I'll take the camera along and see what I can shoot.
I'll leave you with a shot of one of the flowers I got for Valentines Day. My lovely husband surprised me with a big bunch of flowers and a single red rose - in two separate deliveries. Spoilt!

See another shot

I was trying to get photos of Will sitting in his new bebepod seat (on the table because there was the most light there). I had to move my big Nigella Lawson platter off the table when I thought I might try a photo (or ten) with Will in there.
He wasn't overly happy with the idea and I had trouble getting far enough away to fit it all in the scene but here's what I got.
I processed it to try to get an 'aged look'
