I got a chance yesterday to take some photos of some gorgeous kids other than my son. The beautiful two year old girl is just *slightly* over the camera, the little boy is 5 days younger than Will and a little bit littler and adorable. He has the most gorgeous smile but didn't really share it for my camera.
I got spoilt by the man and the boy. I got to splurge on a new (secondhand) lens (the tamron 28-75mm f/2.8) - I thought that was all I could expect but I found a suprise present when Shayne went to work last night. They gave me a Willow Tree figurine but my favourite part of the present was the card with Will's first 'scribble'. I'll treasure it forever.
My other present was getting a photo of Will and I:
This time 6 months ago I was in labour looking forward to meeting my baby. I can not believe how fast the time has gone - yet at the same time I can't remember my life without him.
William is now over 6 kilos in weight. He has started solids (loves apple and rice cereal, not a fan of pumpkin) and manages to make a lot of mess. He follows each mouthful of food with his fist and I'm never quite sure how much ends up in his mouth.
He is sitting really well and learning to move from sitting to tummy (well learning to control the movement, he can throw himself down at the moment). Creeping on his tummy is slowly turning into crawling on all fours and he like to get up on his toes and hands and balance as well. We have the baby gate up to keep him and the dog apart.
He had his first swing at the playground a little while ago and thought it was great fun.
We are fortunate that in the last week or two he has learnt to self settle and goes down for sleeps happily and sleeps for an hour or two. Heaven after taking 30-40 mins to settle for a quick 30 minute catnap. He still wakes for a feed (or three) overnight but I secretly enjoy the cuddles.
Being a mum has been the best experience I have ever had and I can't wait to see him grow up.
Will has been on the move for a couple of weeks now. He started with commando crawling and now switches between crawling on all fours and creeping on his tummy. It's much faster on his tummy - especially on our floorboards - and he really gets around. We have had to babyproof the loungeroom and put up a baby gate to keep him out of the kitchen.
A mummy shot of him crawling.
Enjoying a book. He was looking at the fire engines (taking after daddy already).
We caught up with Sharon and her kids and I got a quick chance to try out her lens. Will cracked it right after this shot so we packed up. We will have to try again another day to get a nice shot of the boys together.
